Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has launched a new, fully integrated e-commerce platform called “Order to cash” to replace the nine year old PortsOnline customer system already in place.
The technology will offer customers 24 hour access to ports and allow them to use a self-service facility, hoping to make transacting more efficient.
The company hopes it will improve visibility across various interactions with the port authority.
Customers will have the option of interacting via TNPA’s call centre or online as well as via a self-service functionality where clients can log in, maintain their own profiles, place sales orders, view current credit limits and view and download invoices and statements.
TNPA Chief financial officer, Mohammed Abdool, said: “Through the use of technology, the Smart People’s Ports Program will intelligently collect real-time information in order to allow integrated planning, integrated monitoring of our processes and reporting throughout the value chain.”
