A staff reshuffle within Cargotec has led to a change in the management teams of Navis and Kalmar, with the former’s general manager of the Americas position currently vacant.
Kalmar began a domino-like change by appointing Navis’s vice president and general manager of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Guenter Schmidmeir, as its senior vice president of global terminal operations.
This in turn led to Navis’s Chuck Schneider taking up Schmidmeir’s role and thus leaving his own, general manager of the Americas, vacant for the time being.
As part of this transition, Susan Gardner will manage North American sales in her new title of senior director of field operations, North America, while Martin Bardi will manage Latin America’s sales as vice president of field operations.
Schmidmeir’s role will be deepen relationships with global terminal operators and large regional operators and offer Kalmar’s service, software and equipment.
He had led the EMEA region at Navis since 2008, and had worked for the company in locations such as London, Antwerp, Dubai, Hamburg and Oakland.
In his new role Schneider, who has held various positions in Navis across more than 11 years, will be responsible for sales, professional services and support in the EMEA region.
In recent years he has helped with the teams that have implemented Navis at DP World Antwerp, APM Terminals (APMT) Virginia and Long Beach Container Terminal.
