Volumes at PSA International’s terminals across the world have increased by 9.8% in 2017 to over 74m teu with its flagship facilities in Singapore accounting for 33.35m teu.
The throughput growth was fairly evenly split between the company’s Singapore terminals (up 9%) and its terminals abroad (up 10.4%).
PSA’s CEO Tan Chong Meng, said: “In 2017, the global economy saw some recovery and bright spots of growth although the shipping industry continued to face challenges as the huge wave of consolidation and alliancing in 2016 began to manifest its full effects operationally.
