Throughput at Yilport’s terminals grew by 9.5% to 4.3m teu in 2017 which the company attributed primarily to growing Turkish trade and Swedish exports.
At Yilport’s Turkish container terminals Yilport Gebze and Yilport Gemlik volumes rose by 26% and 30% to 501,284 teu and 474,019 teu respectively. Yilport said the growth at Gemlik was supported by ongoing port expansion.
The combined throughput at the operator’s Nordic terminals – the Gävle Container Terminal (GCT) in Sweden and the Sjursøya Container Terminal (SCT) in Norway – rose by 14% to 465,000 teu. This growth driven by Swedish exports as a result of a labour dispute at APM Terminals (APMT) Gothenburg which has slowed down its operations.
