Yilport is to begin the first phase of its dredging programme at Puerto Bolivar in Ecuador at the start of March, hoping to deepen the access channel and the quay side draught at the banana export hub.
Parts of the access channel where the draught is currently 8.5 m will be dredged to a flat draught of 10 m mean low water springs (MLWS) in the first step of the project, due by the end of May 2018.
After the second step of dredging, the access channel will have a draught of 14.5 m MLWS, scheduled for completion at the end of May 2019.
