Associated British Ports (ABP) has appointed Henrik Pedersen, chief commercial officer at APM Terminals (APMT) since January 2017, as its new chief executive.
Pedersen will take up his new role in August 2018 following 20 years of experience in a range of leadership roles across A.P. Moller-Maersk’s portfolio.
He stated: “With ABP handling around 25% of the UK’s seaborne trade, making sure the business can continue to develop and grow is vitally important for our customers and the wider UK economy.”
Pedersen, who succeeds James Cooper at ABP, recently outlined how APMT is moving “from a portfolio-driven growth company to a more customer-centric, product-driven company with lean operations at its core.”
“We see the opportunities to make the port segment in each customer’s supply chain work better with more efficiency, reliability and less handoffs,” he added in March.
