Hapag-Lloyd has opened a new office in Tema, Ghana, from where it will manage most of its operational activities in West Africa.
Anthony Firmin, chief operating officer at the carrier, said: “We are tying Africa even more closely to our global network while benefiting at the same time from positive economic developments in large parts of Africa.”
He highlighted the West Africa Express (WAX) service from and to West Africa, which has been operating for several years, as well as the new East Africa Service (EAS), connecting global trades via its hub in Saudi Arabia with Kenya and Tanzania.
