Yilport’s Ferrol Container Terminal, situated in Spain, has welcomed its first regular service, with MacAndrew’s POSS service calling at the facility.
The weekly POSS Service begins in Tilbury before visiting Rotterdam, Ferrol, Seville, Gibraltar, Cartagena and Huelva. There will be a double call at Ferrol, with the terminal discharging containers on the southbound leg and loading them on the northbound leg.
Christian Blauert, Yilport Holding CEO, said: “We believe this service will shorten the distance between the Galician market and global trade. We will keep expanding our hinterland and strengthening our position by adding new services.
“With the short-sea and feeder options we have at our terminal we will aim to link cargo to deep-sea services via new development projects and new investments in state-of-the-art equipment. Yilport Ferrol will become the first option for the hinterland market and transhipment cargo very soon.”
MacAndrews, a short-sea operator and a part of the CMA CGM group, mainly focuses on UK, North European and Iberian cargo.
Yilport acquired Ferrol Container Terminal as part of the Tertir portfolio in 2015 and has since invested in the 1.5m teu facility. The terminal is linked to the Spanish highway and logistics networks connect it to Portugal, Madrid, Cantabria and the Basque Country.
