Konecranes will supply Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT) with 52 automated rail mounted gantry (ARMG) cranes for the second phase of building the Khalifa Port Container Terminal (KPCT).
The order will be booked in the fourth quarter of 2018 and the parties involved have agreed not to disclose the value of the deal.
The new ARMG cranes will be similar to the 52 ARMG cranes Konecranes delivered for the first phase of KPCT, which went live in December 2012.
The 54 cranes will have a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes, stacking one-over-six containers high and 30 of the cranes will be nine-wide and 24 will be 11-wide.
All of the cranes will be equipped with automation controls and Konecranes’ active load control (ALC) system, which combines advanced sway control and horizontal fine positioning.
Konecranes’ ALC system aims to provide efficient container handling in the ARMG yard during both automated and remote operation.
Acting CEO of Abu Dhabi Terminals Abdullah Al Hameli said: “Konecranes performed very well throughout the first phase of the construction of our container terminal.”
