Container volumes up by 5% at Valencia

The Port of Valencia handled more than 5m teu in the 12 months between November 2017 and October 2018, with volumes increasing by 4.8%.

Full containers advanced by 3% to 3.87m teu, mainly to a strong import performance, with full inbound containers rising 11%.

Transit containers were also up by 2% although full container exports maintained their downward trend, falling by 1% in the last 12 months.

During October 2018, the container terminals of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) moved in import / export and transit operations 472,403 teu.

This was 11% higher than during October 2017 was helped the port get over the line to 5.04m teu.

For the calendar year of 2018, the port handled 4.27m teu between January and October, an increase of 5.2%.

In this period, full containers are up 3% due to good an import increase of 10% and transit volumes rising by 3%.

Meanwhile, full container exports are down by 2% while empty container traffic is up by 13%.
