Konecranes to deliver hybrid RTGs to Houston
Konecranes has won an order from Port Houston for eight rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes equipped with hybrid power packs, constituting the first such equipment to be delivered by the Finnish company.
The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2018, while the equipment is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2020.
The cranes’ hybrid system will have a lithium-ion battery pack and an advanced battery management system that will monitor the charge level and the general health of the batteries.
