A 4,120 teu Hapag-Lloyd container ship suffered a fuel spill during unloading operations in the Global Marine New York Container Terminal.
Fuel escaped from the approximately 40 x 40 cm opening, which was detected in the hull of the Dublin Express in the evening of March 28.
The hole was sealed during the night and, in addition, containment booms were promptly set out to prevent any additional spreading of the oil and to proactively protect nearby nature reserves.
