A total of 16 Kalmar terminal tractors will be delivered to Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg CJSC (CTSP) where throughput has grown 12% year-on-year in 2018.
The order was booked in the first quarter of 2019 and the machines are expected to be delivered during the third quarter.
The Russian container terminal specialises in handling all types of containerised cargo at its modern facilities, which include an automated control system that enables high-speed container handling on ship, road and rail.
CTSP already operates a fleet of over 50 Kalmar machines, including terminal tractors, reachstackers, forklifts and empty container handlers.
The terminal tractors are used to transport containers from the waterside to the warehouse and back, as well as to move the import containers to the customs clearance area.
Alexander Scherbinin, managing director of CTSP, said: “Due to its high manoeuvrability, ease of operation and ergonomic cabin, Kalmar equipment allows us to keep the handling of containers at a high level.
“Throughout the existence of the terminal, Kalmar equipment has proven itself from the best side. It is reliable, easy-to-maintain equipment.”
The manufacturer’s pioneering i-model terminal tractors are designed to offer robust reliability and excellent performance when moving heavy loads in harsh port conditions.
Kalmar’s customers around the world use the equipment in a variety of different applications including roll-on roll-off (ro-ro) handling, container handling and industrial handling operations.
Valerian Sand, vice president market area north Europe at Kalmar, said: “Our relationship with CTSP has been a long and fruitful one, so we are pleased to continue the cooperation with this new terminal tractor order.”
