Khalifa Port Container Terminal has ordered 60 all-electric, single-lift spreaders for the automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) to be commissioned in its terminal expansion.
Vikram Raman, vice president of sales and service for Bromma in the EMEA region, stated that the repeat order proved “our equipment is performing well and the customer is happy”.
The units on order are YSX45E models, which together with the YSX40E machines, are the most used spreaders in automated terminals around the world.
Lars Meurling, marketing director of Bromma, said: “The robust design combined with specific features required in an automated environment makes these spreaders the best choice for automated stacking cranes.”
More than 90% of the spreaders for rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, rail-mounted gantry (RMG) cranes and ASC operation from Bromma today are all-electric.
According to the manufacturer, the all-electric units offer reliability as well as environmental and economic benefits.
Due to fewer service points, lighter weight and the absence of hydraulics, the units are meant to have higher availability, simplified maintenance requirements, require less power, produce fewer emissions and offer tough durability.
Meanwhile, Raman has just been appointed as Bromma’s vice president for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region and Meurling has been appointed vice president of the EMEA and marketing.
