Konecranes has launched its first empty container handler with a double stack capacity of up to 11 tonnes, specifically designed for heavy-duty double handling application.
The SMV ECC 6/7 110 DS has been dubbed the “no limitations empty container handler” by the manufacturer as it makes full use of an 11-tonne telescopic side lift spreader for handling two empty containers simultaneously.
Patrik Lundbäck, director of sales and distribution at Konecranes Lift Trucks, said: “We’ve seen an increase in demand for empty container handlers with double handling and 11-tonne capacity, especially from countries that export a lot of fruit in reefer containers.
“This truck’s ability to lift offset loads means increased productivity for operators, as it can handle any type of container.”
Less sensitive to eccentric loading, the truck has the ability to lift double reefer containers with aligned refrigerators and comes with sideways articulation that makes it easier to attach containers from the side as standard.
Konecanes Lift Trucks product manager Håkan Andersson added: “This is also the first lift truck to sue Smart Lift, an automatic height positioning system for empty container handlers.
“Driver stress will reduce and that will greatly improve efficiency.”
The design is stronger, lighter and more robust for an extended uptime and reduced maintenance while also offering an optimised hydraulic system and a D8 engine.
Similarly to the manufacturer’s other lift trucks, the new empty container handler has a range of customisable options such as remote monitoring service Truconnect and Power Drive, an ecolifting solution.
