Hapag-Lloyd has launched a new Middle East-India-Africa Express (MIAX) service, scheduled to start in 2019, which will include direct connections between the Arabian Gulf, India, Colombo, La Réunion, South Africa and West Africa.
The service will be jointly operated with Ocean Network Express and is integrated into the global mainline network with the central ports Jebel Ali (Dubai) and Colombo (Sri Lanka).
Mark Wottke, senior director of trade management in Africa, said: “With MIAX, we are expanding our service offerings for the growing African market and integrating the continent even more tightly into our global network.
