Kuenz has delivered a rail-mounted container crane, equipped with a cantilever lifting system, to CTVrede Steinweg B.V be utilised at its Hoogtij terminal in Zaandam, the Netherlands.
The barge crane’s cantilever lifting system will allow the biggest vessels to travel underneath it without risk of collision when the cantilever is lifted into the upper position.
Set to begin operations in September 2019, the crane has a track gauge of 48 m and two cantilevers of 18 m each.
In contrast to the traditional box construction, the main girder of the crane at the Hoogtij terminal will have a round girder which aims to offer lower energy consumption and reduce dynamic forces on the crane wheels, crane runway and structure.
CTVrede Steinweg B.V. already operates two Kuenz cranes and there are over 70 Kuenz cranes already in operation solely in the Netherlands.
Intermodal cranes for container handling have become the most important revenue driver for Kuenz in recent years.
