APMT opens new terminal in northern Italy
The Vado Gateway container terminal, operated by APM Terminals (APMT), has opened in northern Italy.
Vado Gateway is a semi-automated terminal and will initially operate on a 450 m part of the quay but as of July 2020 the whole 700 m extension will be available for use.
Its container storage yard is the first in Italy to be fully automated and it utilises automatic rail mounted gantry cranes and containers unloaded at Vado Gateway will be recorded with a video camera set up on ship-to-shore cranes and sent to the terminal operating system.
