Hapag-Lloyd has opened a new Quality Service Centre (QSC) in Mauritius to explicitly serve one of the company’s fastest growing markets, Africa.
The company’s QSCs, through gathering selected functions from different areas under one roof, aim to enable synergies and deliver on quality promises towards Hapag-Lloyd’s customers.
Dheeraj Bhatia, Hapag-Lloyd’s senior managing director for the Middle East, said: “Mauritius was chosen because the island provides a modern infrastructure, a skilled workforce as well as a unique mix of spoken languages, especially English and French.
“This will enable us to serve our customers in their native languages.”
Hapag-Lloyd has already established several QSCs around the world: in Atlanta in the US, Suzhou in China, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Mumbai in India, Bogota in Colombia, Viña del Mar in Chile and Santos in Brazil.
Operations at the QSC in Mauritius began operations in January 2020 with around 100 employees, with the expectation that this number will double within the next two years.
