China Merchants Port Holdings Company Limited (CMPort) has appointed Deng Renjie to succeed Fu Gangfeng as executive director and the chairman of the board.
Fu resigned from his position as executive director and chairman of the board of CMPort, effective February 13, 2020, due to a change of work arrangement.
The board as expressed its sincere gratitude to Fu for his great contribution to the company during his tenure.
Deng is the executive vice president of China Merchants Group Limited and he graduated from Beijing Electronic Science and Technology Institute with a bachelor’s degree of computer science management in October 1991.
He later obtained his master’s degree of international economic law from Dalian Maritime University.
Prior to his appointment as executive director of the company, Deng served as consultant of the general office in the Ministry of Transportation of China, deputy director of the general office in Hunan Province and deputy secretary general of Hunan Province.
He has also served as deputy secretary-general of the party committee of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
Within the China Merchants Group, Deng has held the role of director of the administration department and the chairman of China Merchants Expressway Network & Technology Holdings Co.
He is currently a member of the executive committee and deputy director of the eighth council of the China Highway & Transportation Society, deputy director of the China Communications Yearbook Council and deputy director of the China Communications Enterprise Management Association.
The management of CMPort has stated that it will uphold the strategic principle of leveraging on its long-term strategy, tapping the current edges, driving through technology and embracing changes, striving to fully realise the vision of becoming a “world class company” with a brand new look.
It hopes to do so with the support of China Merchants Group Limited, the guidance of the board led by Deng and the dedicated effort of everyone within the company.
