Hutchison Port Holdings Trust (HPH Trust) has appointed Dr. Fong Chi Wai Alex as independent non-executive director.
Fong replaces Kevin Anthony Westley, who retired from the board on February 11, 2020.
Canning Fok, chairman of the board, said: “We are pleased to welcome Dr. Fong to the board, who brings with him rich experiences in the transport and logistics industry.
“We would also like to thank Mr. Westley for his valuable contribution to the HPH Trust, and we wish him the best in his retirement.”
Fong has over 25 years of experience in the government of Hong Kong with operational and policy formulation expertise and is the former secretary to the Hong Kong Port and Maritime Board and the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council.
He possesses a bachelor of social science degree in business and economics from the University of Hong Kong, as well as a master of technology management degree in global logistics management from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Additionally, the 63-year-old has a master of science in global finance from the New York University/Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as well as a doctor of business administration degree from the City University of Hong Kong.
He is a fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.
Previously, he held the role of chief executive officer of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce from 2006 to 2011.
Following the appointment of Fong, HPH Trust will continue to have nine directors, five of whom are independent non-executive directors.
