A new weekly service, operated by Unifeeder, will start calling at DP World London Gateway at the end of February 2020, providing an additional service for the logistics trade hub.
The Anna G will be the first vessel to visit, marking the start of the new service, which offers connectivity from northern England and Scotland to deep-sea markets.
The new service will provide a link between London Gateway and the UK East Coast ports network as well as the Northern Range hinterland at Antwerp, Belgium and Dunkirk, France.
This service is also an alternative for customers shipping cargo between Europe and the UK as well as transshipment connections via London Gateway.
Unifeeder became part of the DP World group in 2018 as part of DP World’s ambitions to be an integral player in global supply chains and enable trade across the end-to-end logistics value chain.
This service is meant to help the terminal provide smarter and more sustainable trade enabling solutions for cargo owners.
DP World’s head of UK Ports, James Leeson, said: “This service will open up trade opportunities by providing alternative connections for more remote locations with the deep-sea channels.
“It is also good news for the environment by offering more opportunities for cargo to be moved by sea reducing the footprint of land transport.”
