Hapag-Lloyd has achieved significant reductions in CO2 emissions per container transported, successfully converted its vessel fleet to operate low-sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) and more, according to the German shipping line’s 2019 sustainability report.
In its third report of this kind, the company has reported that it has manged to reduce its specific CO2 emissions (per teu/km), compared to the reference year 2008, by 50%.
CEO Rolf Habben Jansen said: “Sustainability is more than just climate protection, as it also comprises ecological, economic, social and qualitative concerns in equal measure.
