Most of Navis’ customers are still proceeding with IT projects, upgrades and go-lives, as the majority of terminal operators implement remote working strategies to maintain trade flows during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In most parts of the world, vessel planners, berth planners and yard planners are working remotely, while some operators are using “skeleton teams” at terminals.
Andy Barrons, chief strategy officer at Navis, told CM: “Around 85-90% of projects are moving ahead with our customers. Most projects are staying on track. We’re focused on helping the terminal operators make sure that they’ve got access to their software so that they can plan vessel visits, plan the berth, plan the operations and the dispatchers can communicate with the workers on the ground.”
