PortMiami has replaced older, diesel-powered top loaders with six new electric rubber-tyred gantry (E-RTG) cranes at its South Florida Container Terminal (SFCT).
The new equipment, which arrived early January, went through a 30-day testing and certification process by the manufacturer and are now in service.
Mark Baker, SFCT terminal director, said: “These electric machines usher a safer, more efficient and more sustainable era at the port allowing us to densify our terminal to handle future cargo growth.”
