South Asia Gateway Terminal (SAGT) has recently introduced a paperless electronic clearance process for import containers in order to comply with social distancing directives issued by the government of Sri Lanka.
By eliminating the need for clearing agents to visit the Terminal Documentation centre and eradicating physical interactions, SAGT’s e-clearance process has significantly reduced health and safety risks during the container release process.
Additionally, this initiative will pave the way for even greater efficiencies in the upstream and downstream processes towards a totally contactless import clearance port.
