Termont Montréal has opted for Buiscar Skeletal trailers for its new Viau Terminal at the Port of Montreal, Canada in order to improve efficiency as capacity expands.
The terminal operator currently handles over 500,000 teu at its Maisonnueve Terminal and, once the second phase of Viau Terminal is finished, total handling capacity will exceed 1m teu per year.
Busicar was assigned to deliver trailers that can perform optimally in the harsh conditions of the Port of Montréal which experiences hot summers and winters in which it can freeze to -30°C.
The Skeletal trailers have a load capacity of 70 tonnes and can transport containers up to 45 ft, having been developed for multifunctional use.
The base of the trailers and main beams are made of high tensile steel S55JSG3 while the cross beams are, like all the other parts of the construction, made of hot rolled steel.
All connections are mixed gas welded according to NEN-EN 287 and ASME standards for a sturdy construction.
