Identic Solutions has equipped Lyttelton Port with its most advanced terminal-based reefer solution, which will allow for real time monitoring of data.
The Lyttleton Port Company (LPC) has used Identec Solutions’ Terminal Tracker solution since 2007 and decided to take its reefer monitoring system to the next level by equipping the port with 460 Reefer Runner tags.
Mike Simmers, general manager for infrastructure and property at LPC, said: “The longstanding, strong relationship was of course a decisive factor in the decision-making progress.
“We needed a reliable and flexible partner, especially as the implementation phase fell into the peak of the pandemic.”
The Reefer Runner application will work alongside Terminal Tracker to further contribute to the automation of the operational processes in the Lyttelton Port container terminal.
Through the plug and play integration og Reefer Runner to LPC’s terminal operating system (TOS), Navis N4, a seamless communication between the two systems has been achieved.
This helps to create further advantages such as, for example, a complete overview of the reefer visits from the moment they enter the terminal to the moment they leave.
The implementation of the system was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic however Paul Hebrard, Identec’s VP of Sales for Marine & Ports, and his team were able to adapt to the new situation.
Hebrard said: “Our initial tasks were implementation with onsite installation training – of course this was no longer possible due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
“With our flexible system and a team that will bend over backwards, we managed to perform all installation support and training remotely.”
The go-live was completed as scheduled on September 8, 2020 despite the disruption.
Identec Solutions aims to continue to deliver premium support, covering both the existing Terminal Tracker and newly implemented Reefer Runner solution.
