The US Congress has completed negotiations on the Fiscal Year 2021 National Defence Authorisation Act (NDAA), which includes language to establish a new Maritime Transportation System Emergency Relief Programme (MTSERP).
The NDAA specifies the budget, expenditures and polices of the US Department of Defence and the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) has welcomed the decision to include the MTSERP.
It will provide needed funding to US ports following natural disasters and emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic, once passed by Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump.
