The ‘Global Vaccine Distribution Container’, created by partners CakeBoxx Technologies and refrigerated container industry leader Qingdao CIMC Special Reefer Co. (QCSC), has hit the market.
The 20 ft container is designed for the shipment of vaccines, including those for COVID-19, and can be used for ultra-low internal temperatures, down to -70°C, as is required for this type of cargo thanks to its Thermo King Deep Freezer unit.
CakeBoxx Technologies CEO Daine Eisold said: “We have a great partnership with CIMC Qingdao. They are the industry leader in high-performance refrigerated containers – and true to form they have responded to the call the action to support global transportation requirements for the COVID-19 vaccines.
“We are anxious to do our part to make these containers available through our network.”
There are already several vaccines for COVID-19 being distributed worldwide including the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Spitnik V and Sinpharm vaccines.
Last year CakeBoxx Technologies launched its ThermoBoxx two-piece refrigerated containers, which is another product line designed for loss-prevention and the cost-effective shipment of temperature-sensitive cargos.
The ThermoBoxx use the company’s trademark ‘deck and lid’ two-piece design that helps the speed of loading, product safety, security and loss prevention.
It enables shippers to load cargo from the top or side by removing the lid (with full 360° to the deck) or through the rear doors as with conventional reefer containers.
The container was developed to address the growing need for environmental control required for electronic equipment, machinery, composites, defence materials, pharmaceuticals and similar products.
