CMA CGM orders 22 new container vessels
The group also offers LNG

The CMA CGM Group has announced an order for 22 new container vessels from China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Group.

Aiming to accommodate market growth, the vessels are expected to join the French company’s fleet between 2023 and 2024.

All the vessels under order are either powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) or very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO).

In particular, six LNG-powered vessels will have a capacity of 15,000 teu and six other LNG-powered ships will have a capacity of 12,000 teu.

The remaining ten containerships will be powered by VLSFO and will have a capacity of 5,500 teu.

According to data from Alphaliner, CMA CGM is the third largest container shipping line in the world with a market share of 12.5%, placing it marginally ahead of the COSCO Group, which as 12.3%.
