RAM Spreaders has launched its 2nd generation twin lift ship-to-shore (STS) spreader that, with its new design, can help deliver high performance for twin lift STS container handling.
The new design increases structural strength where needed and reduces the number of components by 10% as well as offering a longer flipper gathering distance, lower spreader height and reduced power consumption.
By utilising fewer components, RAM Spreaders noted that it will make maintenance “quick and easy”.
Ideal for both traditional and automated terminals, the 6940 spreader is capable of matching the high-performance needed for tandem lift operations with RAM’s SingFlex for multiple container handling.
The spreader is also capable of gap adjustments of up to 1,600 mm between two 20 ft containers because of its improved telescopic speeds.
Positioning sensors help detect gaps of 0 mm, 76 mm and 1,600 mm with linear transducers adjusting the gap automatically to any position between 0 mm and 1,600 mm.
Additionally, the spreader offers image analysis, a lower spreader height and a greater gathering force.
