APM Terminals (APMT) Callao will supply an oxygen plant to the regional government of Callao to support the battle against COVID-19.
The plant, which is planned to be operational this month, will be located in the Freddy Ternero Sports Training Centre in the Ventanilla district.
This oxygen plant will have the capacity to supply 24 cylinders a day, each with a capacity of 10 cubic m.
Joel Ganoza, manager of community relations and social responsibility of APMT Callao, stated: “We are committed to the Callao community. In the 10 years we have operated the concession, we have always sought to contribute to the development and wellbeing of the local population.
“This has never been more important than during recent difficult times with the pandemic. With a potential third wave of COVID-19, we have made no exception and will continue providing all possible support.”
During the state of emergency, the terminal has supported 10,000 members of the community with medical personnel and donations.
It has also delivered approximately 7 tonnes of food to 12 soup kitchens and the elderly, a children’s home and to neighborhoods in Callao, benefiting more than 4,300 people in total.
Additionally, it has delivered more than 43,000 items of personal protective equipment against COVID-19 to five hospitals in Callao (two from EsSalud) and 16 health centers in DIRESA Callao, as well as to representatives of the PNP Ciudadela Chalaca Police Station in Callao.
This contributed to the protection of more than 3,800 people in total, including healthcare personnel and police officers.
