Port of Newcastle launches expression of interest for potential empty container park

The Port of Newcastle has opened an Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the operation and construction of a potential empty container park at the port’s Mayfield precinct.

The Mayfield 4 berth, where two new mobile harbour cranes and the potential empty container park will be located, is used for break bulk and general cargo and this trade is expected to continue through the berth following installation of the cranes.

The EOI is open via tenderlink.com until November 5, 2021, although the port will only decide whether or not to proceed with the project after reviewing response to the EOI and a range of other business considerations and factors affecting the port.
