RTE launches updated wireless reefer monitoring solution
The solution builds on the WRAD which was launched in 2011

Refrigerated Transport Electronics (RTE) has launched the WRAD II, the newest iteration of its wireless reefer monitoring device, featuring Bluetooth 5 wireless communication technology.

The WRAD was first introduced in 2011 becoming the industry’s first wireless reefer monitoring product. It used WiFi Zigbee technology to provide opportunities to reefer operators of any size for expanding throughputs or opening new yards.

When connected with RTE’s GRASP monitoring system, or GrAsPP mobile app, the industry’s first and only reefer monitoring app, each WRAD II is designed to become a robust data management tool, creating real-time one-to-one communication between the operator and refrigerated container.

Therefore, by utilising the device and app together to achieve instant reefer data and GPS location, users can have a ‘complete reefer monitoring solution’ according to the solution provider.

With NFC configuration and two-way communication, operators can engage with WRAD II, modify setpoints, collect data and connect with terminal operating systems (TOS), all from user-based mobile devices.

Mounted on reefer racks or magnetically attached to stacked or intermodal containers, the device can be used for a range of reefer operations covering terminals, reefer yards, rail lines and over-the-road trucking.

The US-based company has designed the product for ease of use and interaction with both TOS software and RTE’s GRASP terminal- or cloud-based monitoring software.
