DP World Chile has secured the first renewable energy certification for a port operator in South America, confirming it uses 100% renewable electrical energy across its ports.
The certification — endorsed by Ernst and Young — was awarded by the Chilean energy firm Colbun.
The terminal operator worked with the energy group ENEL for over a year, to obtain this certification, and had to showcase how 100% of the port’s electricity comes from the hydro-electric plants across the two terminals.
