Four maritime industry groups have collaborated to develop a Dangerous Goods Warehousing White Paper in response to an increased volume of dangerous goods transported in containers and the occurrence of related incidents.
The International Cargo Handling Coordination Association (ICHCA), International Vessel Owners Dangerous Goods Association (IVODGA), National Cargo Bureau (NCB) and World Shipping Council (WCS) aim to produce best practice guidelines through the white paper.
Introducing the white paper, A.P. Moller Maersk’s head of cargo management Uffe V Ernst-Frederiksen and Hapag-Lloyd’s senior director and dangerous goods safety advisor Ken Rohlmann, both of IVODGA, said: “The temporary or long-term storage of dangerous goods in a facility, necessitates the careful planning, supervision and continued due diligence.
