Kalmar to deliver first Eco reachstacker in Latin America

Kalmar to deliver first Eco reachstacker in Latin America
The Eco reachstacker

Kalmar is to supply its Eco reachstacker to Brazilian terminal Portonave, making it the first of its kind to be delivered to a customer in Latin America.

The unit uses a smaller engine than traditional reachstacker solutions, in an effort to reduce fuel consumption and emissions without compromising productivity.

It also hopes to offer an improved overall driving experience with smoother acceleration and less cabin noise.

The unit delivered to Portonave will have a lifting capacity of 45 tonnes and one-over-six high stacking capability.

Marcelo Anacleto Diniz, maintenance manager at Portonave, said: “We are committed to sustainable development and are continuously seeking new ways to help protect the environment, and it is important that our new equipment acquisitions are aligned with these goals.

“The new Kalmar Eco Reachstacker will play an important role in improving our environmental and operational performance.”

Located in the city of Navegantes in southern Brazil, Portonave’s equipment fleet includes Ottawa terminal tractors and empty container handlers from the Finnish manufacturer.

This latest order, which also includes comprehensive training for maintenance technicians and equipment operators as well as technical inspection and monitoring services, was booked in Cargotec’s Q4 2021 intake, with delivery scheduled for Q2 2022.
