Enabling vessels to transit the Elbe with more cargo, the final stage of the fairway adjustment has been authorised, which means that container vessels with a draught of up to 13.5 m can visit the Port of Hamburg irrespective of the tide.
Depending on the tide, even greater draughts are possible, while in comparison to the situation before the fairway adjustment, inbound and outbound shipping now gains from a draught increase of between 1 and 1.9 m.
Irrespective of the tide, Megamax vessels with a width of up to 62.5 m and a length of 400 m can now move about the port with a draught of up to 13.1 m.
