Valenciaport’s container volumes for the 2021 financial year have increased to over 5.6m teu, up 3.25% year-on-year compared to 2020, thanks to the export/import pull of Spanish companies.
The port’s throughput also increased 3% when compared to the pre-pandemic levels of 2019, confirming the forecasts of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV).
Moreover, these figures place the Valencian port as the fourth port in Europe in terms of containers, surpassing the Greek port of Piraeus, and behind Rotterdam, Antwerp, and Hamburg.
