Hutchison Ports Holdings (HPH) Trust’s container throughput across its Yantian (YICT) and Hong Kong terminals increased 4% year-on-year in 2021, despite the global port congestion.
YICT recorded a 6% increased in throughput compared to 2020, while the combined throughput of HIT, COSCO-HIT and ACT (collectively HPHT Kwai Tsing) was marginally lower than the year before.
The throughput growth at YICT was mainly attributed to increases in US, EU and empty cargoes where outbound cargoes to the US and EU for 2021 were up compared to 2020 by 7% and 11%, respectively.
