Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has approved more than US$538m in capacity expansion projects to meet demand as the Port of Savannah’s container volume grew nearly 18% year-on-year in February.
The double-digit growth marks the 19th consecutive month of year-on-year increases for GPA, which has expedited capacity expansion projects to better accommodate such growth.
Griff Lynch, GPA executive director, said: “Today’s action by the board will result in an unprecedented expansion, ensuring our ability to meet our customers’ evolving needs.
