ABB to implement crane OCR system on 21 STS cranes at MIT

ABB has signed a contact to equip all 21 ship-to-shore (STS) cranes at Panama’s Manzanillo International Terminal (MIT) with its crane optical character recognition (OCR) technology, including container feature recognition capabilities.

The contract follows the successful implementation of ABB Crane OCR at five terminals in the US, which belong to MIT’s parent company SSA Marine.

The system automates the process of recording information of containers loaded and discharged by STS cranes, aiming to significantly improve data quality.
