Bracco and BDP mark pharma transport first with Trans-Asia rail shipment

Bracco Imaging SpA and BDP International have completed the transportation of two refrigerated 40 ft reefer containers via the Trans-Asia railway from Italy to China, marking the inaugural journey of this temperature-controlled transportation.

Bracco, which specialises in all modalities of diagnostic imaging solutions, approached BDP to determine the feasibility of a transport solution that would route freight entirely over land to reduce carbon emissions.

BDP, a member of the PSA Group, implemented a solution that utilises IoT sensors within the container to measure temperature, humidity and light levels and product movement traceability.
