President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has inaugurated a new RP2.9tn (US$195m) container terminal at Pontianak Port in the province of West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Construction of the Kijing Terminal began in 2016 and was completed in May 2016, with a capacity of 500,000 teu and 8m non-containers.
Jokowi said: “We need to make sure that such a big investment will help strengthen our competitiveness and improve inter-port, inter-island, and international connectivity.”
