Higher than average freight rates helped to boost Hapag-Lloyd’s 2022 half year results, boosting Group profit to US$9.5bn while revenues climbed to US$18.6bn.
The increase represents a US$6bn increase in Group profit compared to 2021 and a US$8bn increase in revenues compared to the same period as the average freight rate rose to US$2,855 per teu (US$1,612 per teu in 2021).
Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd AG, said: “We have benefited from significantly improved freight rates and look back on extraordinarily strong business performance on the whole in the first half of the year.
