More than 500 port operatives are set to strike at Liverpool Port over an “inadequate” 7% pay offer which, according to UK leading UK union Unite, is a real terms pay cut.
Although dates have not yet been set, 99% voted for strike action in a ballot with an 88% turnout and it is expected that the strikes will bring Liverpool container port “grinding to a halt”.
Workers will also strike over the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company (MDHC)’s failure to honour the 2021 pay agreement.
