APM Terminals (APMT) has planned to invest US$500m into the development of the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) with plans to operate a new 1,000 m container quay adjacent to the existing 500 m one.
The terminal operator will also increase the number of cranes to 30, all powered by electricity instead of diesel, in a step to reduce SCCT’s emissions and transform it into a green terminal by the end of 2030.
These plans were discussed with the Suez Canal Authority (SCA)’s chairman, Adm. Osama Rabie, on his foreign tour to Denmark and the Netherlands.
