An eight day strike from August 21-29 is underway at the Port of Felixstowe after talks between operator Hutchison Ports and the Unite union failed to settle a pay dispute.
The strike involves over 1,900 members of Unite, employed in manual roles at the UK’s largest container port including crane drivers, tug boat operatives and stevedores.
The union has criticised employer the Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company for failing to deliver a pay increase in line with the real (RPI) inflation rate of 11.8%.
