Ocean Network Express (ONE) has broadened its green rail transport network adding links to the cities of Dortmund in Germany and Basel in Switzerland, as it looks to cut CO2 emissions.
The company, which is partnering with the green TFGeco train product, as operated by German rail operator TFG Transfracht, already offered rail services via the northern seaports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven to European hinterland terminals.
Head of key account management at TFG Transfracht, Jakob Grützner, said: “Rail transport is amongst the most eco-friendly means of transport but moving containers based on renewable energy and compensating unavoidable CO2 emission contributes to improving the environment even further.”
